2012 Oscar Red Carpet!

Hello!
This past weekend was the Oscar's! Another red carpet and another group of gorgeous dresses. This weekend Angie's leg and Jlo's nip slip were the talk of the night.

Best-
Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab with Jacob & Co jewels. Milla is my best dressed of the night with her old Hollywood glam. The one shoulder beaded gown is to die for. The beading gives her the glam look and the white is on trend for the carpet. The side-swept do is perfect along with the red lip.

Angelina Jolie in a custom-made Versace with Neil Lane jewels. Even though I hate velvet I am loving this dress. The high slit an asymmetrical neckline are gorg. Plus that leg gives you the 'don't mess with me' and 'I know I am hot' look. That leg has even made (inter?)national headlines!

Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford. My Twitter newsfeed blew up with tweets about this dress. I agree with my fellow twitterer's, love! The dress is so simple but she pulls it off so well and makes it look glam. White is the hot color and she proved it on the carpet. I personally love the cape and it is unexpected since barely anyone wears them.

Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton with Forevermark jewelry. I love this dress on her. It has a lot of different features to it with the extra skirt, waves of layers on the skirt, and the different ways the fabric is layered. The dress is dynamic and unique. Personally, love the pixie cut on her and the bow on her hip. It's all quirky and unique but she makes it her own.

Cameron Diaz in Gucci with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. This dress is simple at the top but the bottom is full of drama. The varied colors, strips of fabric, and sparkles it makes it standout. I wish she had a more statement necklace to make the top pop. Lovin' her short hair here!

Rooney Mara in Givenchy. Another star stepping out in white! This dress is dynamic and interesting. The back is striking along with the cups on her boobs. I am not a fan of the hair but it is her signature look. She is quirky and this dress fits her personality.

Stacy Keibler in Marchesa with Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Well, we no why George Clooney is with her! She looks great in this gold gown. The one shoulder, draping, and flower draped on her hip are perfect. She may be his plus one but she shined in gold.

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji with Neil Lane jewels. She is looking fab! The creme color looks great against he darker skin. I love how the crystals are placed. The heaviness in the center and then scattering out gives her body a great shape.

Melissa McCarthy in Marina Rinaldi with Brian Atwood shoes and clutch. Melissa isn't a size zero but she knows her to dress for her body. The draping across the bust and bottom help with the illusion to make her seem smaller. Also, the appliqué at the waist synchs her in to give her a nice shape. Then the appliqué on the neckline gives her a glam look. She's rocking it for her body type!

Almost, but not quite-
Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. I am mixed on this dress. I liked the cutouts in the arm and the deep v-neck. Also, I like how the stripes are placed to highlight her curves. However, I am not fan of the birds nest on her head and I think a soft updo or curls would be better suited. Along with that the possible nip-sip is never a good thing. Her boobs look suffocated and squished.

Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli with Louis Vuitton jewels. I love this dress. The neck with the bow brings the drama and the way it is draped on her is perfect. The only thing I don't like about this look is her hair. It feels to severe for this look. I think a softer updo would of made the look perfect.

Shailene Woodley in Valentino with Harry Winston jewels. Another celeb working white on the carpet! I feel as though this dress is to old for Shailene. She is young and has a great body and need to show it off. Her entire body is covered and there isn't much sex appeal to this dress. Also, I feel as though the arms are a bit large for her and don't fit her right.

Sandra Bullock in Marchesa. This color block dress with the appliqué is pretty. I like the dress but I feel like there's something off. I wish the top was more fitted since she has a great body. Also, the appliqué is a bit heavy and draws attention to her midsection. She probably has washboard abs but no women wants attention to that area.

Kate Mara. I like this dress but don't live it. I like the belt and the top. The bottom flower applique is to heavy and I wish they just kept with the plain beading. I am not a fan of the one shoulder look. I feel as though it is to low and loose. It looks like her strap fell which makes the look seem messy.

Worst-
Leila Hatami. This is the worst dressed of the night! It looks as though she was the bride to a catholic wedding or a nun getting married even though I don't believe that's possible. This white reminds me of a wedding gown especially with the lace. Then she has the cloth or possible headpiece. It looks like it was a last minute touch to the outfit. Kill two birds with one stone, go to the Oscars and get married!

Wendi Murdoch. I feel as though I have seen this dress but years ago. It reminds me of a style seen in the 2000's. The velvet skirt with the silk draping the appliqué. There is just to much going on for one dress. Along with that she has a hot pink handbag! I'm all for a pop of color but this is an awkward pop.

Virginia Madsen. This gown is a mix of a prom dress and mother of the bride. The fabric looks a bit cheap and the color is so bright. She is older and this dress doesn't fit for her age. I feel like the fabric is bunching around her midsection and draws unnecessary attention.

Berenice Bejo in Elie Saab. I am not a fan of this dress on her. I feel like the mint green color is to light for her and washes her out. I feel like the dress blends into her instead of her working the dress. The tight updo is not working for this look and makes her face look to tight.

Missi Pyle in Valentina Felfino with Chopard jewelry. This look seems as though it is made for a beauty pageant. The color is so bright and the appliqué on the hip is out of place. I think she made the wrong turn on the way to Miss USA.

Busy Phillips in Dolce & Gabbana. This dress doesn't seem high fashion enough for this event. The lace fabric is rushed into the center. I feel as though this dress is a bit short and I don't like the fact that you can see her shoes without her posing. Her shoes are hot pink but her earrings are shades of blue. I don't see how this look is cohesive and isn't styled well.

Melissa Leo in Reem Acra. I am not loving the dress and feel as though it looks a bit dowdy. The silk belt seemed misplaced and cheap. I don't like the cold sequins on top. I feel as though if the look was all black it would look much better. It seems like there is two looks in one dress.

Natalie Portman in Dior with Harry Winston jewelry. I love Natalie and she is always so fashion forward. This time, she totally failed. I hate this polka-dot creation and doesn't fit anything I have seen her in before. Also, it isn't glam enough for the Oscars. She knows how to work it but she missed the mark with this. I do like the necklace though.

Moncler Fashion Show!

Hello!
As all of us fashionistas are aware, last weekend was NY Fashion Week. I remember watching Project Runway in my pre-teen years and always wanting to go in the tents just like the top designers. It has always been a dream of mine to go to fashion week and be able to go into the tents. Last weekend, part of this dream came true. I got the opportunity to be part of fashion week! As some of you know me personally, you may know I am jot a 6foot gorgeous, skinny model. Instead of walking the catwalk, we skated the ice. Or as we figure skaters call it, perform a program. We would be skating in the 2012 fall collection.
We received the email the week of the show with minimal details. I literally had a heart attack when i found out. This ensued screaming and jumping like a mad women. We were not allowed to say what we were doing for publicity reasons. If this wasn't the case I would of totally made a billboard out of excitement.
The day before the actual show, we had regular practice. We had practice from 9am to 430pm.. It was a very long day and after we were allowed to (finally) get out of the rink and get dinner. We were at the hotel by 8pm. As soon as we were all accounted for we had the nearly hour bus ride into the city. We arrived in Central Park and had a long trek to Wollman Rink. Of course, this night has to be one of the coldest nights of the year with the temperate in the teens to single digits. We arrived at the rink to be given our credentials or backstage passes for the fashion show. Then we made the long trek back to the bus. We had a moment of 'wow that was quick' and 'I guess we are done already'. These thoughts were short lived and this was not the case. We were actually early and this was the only the beginning of our night. We took the bus around the city and got to see some of the hot spots the city has to offer. We went pass Times Square, 5th Ave,  and the Lincoln Center just to name a few.

We arrived back to Central Park at about 10pm and had to make the hike to the rink. It was a half sprint to keep warm. For those that do not know about Wollman Rink, it is an outdoor rink with a tiny building on the side with seating, bathrooms, and rentals. There's a bridge and patio that overlooks the rink so you can watch. We got a chance to met the rest of the cast along with the team and our choreographer. The other performers included ice skaters and dancers, hockey players, and even skate guards. Our choreographer was not a skater and has worked with Britney Spears and all of these celebs. Next, we recieved ribbons to show which group we were in along with inner ears. These inner ears let us hear the choreographer along with the music. After this we went and waited, or started the freezing process. We aren't allowed to bring any extra clothing then what was on our packing list. Most of us just had maybe a pair of tights, under armor pants, tank top, jacket, and parka. When it is below freezing and it actually snowed that night we froze. They gave out hand warmers and hot chocolate that ran out quite quickly. While we waited we were forced to keep moving in order to stay warm. Soon enough it was after 11pm and we were allowed to get our skates on. The choreography we learned was for the finale. The rest had to learn their programs but our coach had done that for us during previous practices. I admit, there was a lot of waiting around.  It felt like we were doing a majority of our waiting outside in the cold.We did have two people that were amazing and so cheerful. I forget their names but when we were divided into 'Team Awesome' and 'Team Fierce' it made the standing around more fun. While we waited we started this conga line of rubbing each others arms to stay warm. This was almost useless and we were so cold that we were numb. We had girls crying from being so cold! I know my feet could of been chopped off and I wouldn't have even realized it. I guess the tears froze or I was too cold cry. These rehearsals lasted from 11pm-3am. We finished the choreography and it was pretty simple so no worries that we would forget. As soon as rehearsals were over we threw off our skates and ran to the bus. When we walked to the rink hours before the puddles in the sidewalk were just water but on our run back they were frozen over! In those few hours the water had frozen, and we were outside nearly that entire time (this shows just how cold it was).. I believe the majority of us fell asleep on the hour bus ride back from exhaustion. By the time we got into our rooms it was after 4am and we had to be up at 8am. My room blasted the heat in order to help with the unthawing process.
I was anticipating the early wake up and was up at 7. I drifted off and on until our 8am wakeup call. I was the first out of bed and to get ready. I put on a an extra pair of tights and had extra clothes in my bag. I was preparing for the worst after the night before. I knew the temperate today was not going to be much better and it was still going to be in the twenties.
We had breakfast by nine and were packed and out of the hotel by ten. We had a nicer bus from Mercedez-Benz that apparently the Giants had used for the Superbowl Parade the week before. (The celeb status     continues! JK) We drove to were we had fittings which were being held at this art gallery. Being on the highest level team we were the last to go and had to wait for what seemed like forever before we got turn to get ready. It seemed extra long to me since I was so excited to see the collection. We went into the fitting room and got a chance to meet the designer. We lined up in height order and he seized us up. This was almost intimidating especially since he wasn't speaking English. He picked out the outfits we were going to be wearing and we got changed. There were some amazing pieces to the collection and the fur pieces were so outrageous that they were maj. I got what we liked to call the puffer marshmallow jacket. (It would actually be really adorable with jeans and boots). Along with the jacket we had a turtleneck, hat, black pants, leg warmers, and glottens (glove/ mitten combo). The gloves had the thumb and pointer finger as regular gloves and the rest of the fingers were in mitten form. The gloves went all the way up to the elbow. They were insane! I have never seen anything like them before. Next step was the makeup. They covered every imperfection and made us look angelic with really clean, light skin. We had a touch of mascara and that was all the makeup.
We took the bus to the rink and had practice. We ran our programs a few times. Next, was rehearsal for the ending. Finally, we were told we had a thirty minute break before we ran the whole show. We got off our skates, waited a bit and the skates went back on. The wait was much longer then thirty minutes and my feet were nonexistent from the numbness. This rehearsal was a full runthrough as if it was the show. At this time it was dusk and it even started snowing! It felt like you were in a snowglobe, it was magical. We were quickly fed chicken fingers or dumblings. While in line for food or just walking around you had people poking and proding at you. They were people fixing your hair to make sure it was all in your hat and then others doing makeup. It was like an actual runway show. It started to get crazy! There was yelling, people running around, and so many people doing a hundred different jobs to make sure the show was perfect.
Soon it was time for the show. Unfortunately, it had stopped snowing but it was still a cold night. There were what seemed like hundreds of people in the stands watching us. There were photographers, reporters, and journalists. People from Vogue Uk, Zimbio, Vogue Paris, Vogue USA, Elle, NY Times, NBC, and all of these people were in attendance. The show went off without any problems and it was a fabulous show. While the guests were shuffling out we stayed on the ice as if a public session. I got to talk to one of my friends and skate around with him. It was a great night and a great show! I am so lucky to have had a chance to be part of it.
The next few days I stalked the webs for anything I could find about the show. Every article had great things to say about the show. They loved the skating and it couldn't of been a more perfect presentation even if it was cold and snowy. I would like to say that Moncler has the WARMEST jackets I have ever worn. Even during the snow and laying on the ice I was never cold. I actually was sweating at points. Now, I'm going to need to get one of these jackets! Unfortunately, we didn't get to keep the outfits :(.
Thanks Moncler for a great show and opportunity!

And here are some quotes from some of the guests appearances and writers!

"Most Spectacular Show: Moncler"
"Okay, I admit it; the freezing temperatures and last-minute snow flurries had me a bit leery. But those of us who braved the elements were rewarded with an original and charming Moncler Grenoble fall 2012 presentation Sunday evening at the Wollman Rink in Central Park. It was impossible not to get caught up in the moment—albeit a cold one," as per Vogue. http://www.vogue.com/vogue-daily/article/when-the-runway-is-a-rink-moncler-fall-2012-on-ice/
"The bitter cold and snow-stirring breeze at Central Park’s Wollman Rink made the quilted, down-filled pieces in the Moncler Grenoble collection that were presented on the ice look even more enviable to all the onlookers huddled next to the heaters. One hundred and fifty Moncler-clad skaters put on a mesmerizing synchronized performance that ended with the whole lot down for the count," as per NY Times. http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/02/13/photos-of-the-moment-moncler-grenoble/
"Manhattan's night skyline made for one of the more off-beat and sensational New York Fashion Week displays. Instead if strutting down the runway, wide, elegant skating strides showed off the winter woolies to the best of their abilities, with the pro skaters moving in rhythm, performing spins, dips and lifts to the upbeat music and crowds of guests," as per Daily Mail UK.

"Between the music, the lights, and the fashion on ice, it's safe to say the show offered one of Fashion Week's more dazzling spectacles, drawing a varied crowd -- from Liz Hurley and Tinsley Mortimer to Scott Schuman, a.k.a. The Sartorialist," as per NBC NY. http://www.nbcnewyork.com/blogs/threadny/THREAD-One-Shot-Ice-Skating-Models-at-Monclers-Grenoble-Fashion-Show-139228134.html
"It was a magical moment when Moncler Grenoble illuminated Central Park’s winter trees with vibrant color and sent 150 snowproof outfits onto the ice ring. It was magic — and fashion — on ice, " as per NY Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/14/fashion/14iht-rtrousers14.html

2012 Grammy Awards!

Hello!
This past weekend was the Grammy Awards. Yet another awards show to obsess over what the celebs are wearing on the carpet. Let's see what the stars strutted in this weekend! This carpet was filled with many celebs rocking simplistic dresses and the BD was a hit. Unfortunately, many celebs missed the mark at this awards show and ended up on the worst dressed!

The Favs!
Rihanna in a custom Giorgio Armani with Neil Lane jewels. On the carpet, Riri works unique outfits. Today, she worked a sexy BD with a plunging neckline and thigh high slit. This is more tamed down then her usual getup. At first, I was upset she didn't push the envelope but she looks fab so I can't be mad. She is one of the best dressed of the night!

Alicia Keys in Alexandre Vauthier. Alicia is rocking her BD. I love the volume with her shoulder pads. The oversized, gold necklace looks almost like a collar. I am loving this look even if it is simple. She adds volume and the oversized necklace to create drama.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Stella McCartney. Another star shining in a BD! I love her gold belt in contrast with the black. Also, the cutouts are totally sexy. Her slicked back hair just makes the look sleek and gives the look of "I know I'm rocking this without even trying".

Adele in Armani. Adele is rocking this shiny black dress. Even though she is completely covered up she still looks sexy and the red lip is perfect. She doesn't have a size 0 figure but she still knows how to dress for her figure. She is just so timeless, love her!

Paris Hilton in Basil Soda. The white looks lovely on her tan (slightly orange) skin and the gold really makes it stand out. I really love the applique all throughout it and the belt to match.

Rosie and Sophie Grace. I love these two little girls are adorable and I want to steal them. They went to the Grammy's for Ellen as per the insciption across their chest. They are known for their crowns and tutu's. They kept with the traditions and looked adorable! They remind me of little Sleeping Beauties.

Almost, but not quite!
Taylor Swift in Zuhair Murad. This is the dress that I wasn't sure if I liked or not. The dress is very pretty and I love the cutout on the top. However, I feel as though Taylor always wears glitzy dresses and I want her to push the envelope more.

Kelly Osbourne in Tony Ward. This dress is decent. I like the sparkly material but the draping on the skirt is a bit heavy. Also, I am not a fan of the fabric on the shoulder. I think what is really throwing me off is her hair color. The hair color just doesn't work with the gold color of the dress.

Carrie Underwood in Gomez-Garcia. I want to love this dress but the dress overshadows Carrie. The dress is wearing her and the color just pops to much and doesn't match with her skin. Her hair and makeup look gorg tho!

Kelly Rowland in Alberta Ferretti. I like the color on Kelly and I don't even mind the applique. However, the mesh on top reminds me of a skating dress. If it was a strapless dress it would be more flattering and feminine.

The Worst!
Robyn. This is my worst dressed of the night. The top looks like a Hayne's t-shirt. The skirt is half finished and was described as a "mullet". Plus the shiny material only adds to the horror. An another note she is wearing Timberland platforms. These workboots are not appropriate for the carpet unless you are a construction worker making the set.

Nadeea. This reminds me of something a showgirl would wear. I love bedazzled outfits but is to much. The bra top, see through mesh, and tiny skirt are trashy. It's just to much show girl and not enough fashion. On another note, Victoria Secret called and wanted their fantasy bra back.

Mayra Veronica. This dress reminds me of a rainbow constellation. There is so much texture and color it is overwhelming. It's almost like she is a pinnate and I'm wondering if her dress will pour out candy. This dress would not work for anyone, except maybe as a flag or child's play.

Sasha Gradiva. This has to be the weirdest outfit on the carpet. She looks like she's going to prom but then turned into the terminator! She has the pale pink dress with rushed top. Then she has the guns (literally) on her one arm. #confused

Nicki Minaj in a Red Riding Hood Versace cape. The pope and the Red Riding Hood look is confusing. I don't get the look or concept. Nicki has always pushed the envelope but bringing a pope with you is a new step. The face embroidery on the front and the red cape are to much. Next time, either push the envelope or be normal.

Cyndi Lauper. This is just the hot mess! There's a lot going on with this. It looks like she is wearing a blazer with a floor length skirt. Underneath is some lacy lingerie that is peaking out. You can even see it showing from the thigh-high slit. Along with that, her hair has black pieces in it. Oi vey!

Snooki in a Bebe dress. Oh Snooki, you're on the red carpet, not a club at the Jersey Shore. There is just to much going on with the outfit. From the leopard print on the dress, wrist full of bracelets, red hair pieces, and headband/ bow. The outfit is just to overwhelming. Take out the red and keep the accessories to a minimum.

Fergie in Jean Paul Haultier. I applaud Fergie for pushing the envelope in this completely lace number and the bright orange number. However, when I can see the color of your undergarments and know that you have granny panties on there is a problem.

Katy Perry in Elie Saab. I know that she is going through a divorce but Katy looks very blue (pun intended). The hair and the dress, it's all just so blue. Her poor boobs look like they are going to poke right through the dress. Katy Perry usually pushes the limit and I feel as though her grandma would wear this.

Adam Levine and girlfriend Anne Vyaltisyna. Adam looks dapper as always. He is kind of hot. We all know his girlfriend is a model with a body. Her dress slit is so close you could probably tell if she got a bikini wax. If she actually had an appropriate skirt on then this LBD would't be on the Worst dressed.

Love, Alexa
