Lexi Likes: Fashion for June

Hello Fashionista's!
I'm sorry my fashion updates have been lacking. Between work, coaching, & school, I have not had much time. However, my first semester is finally over and I did extremely well *yay*. Now that school is over, I want to focus some of my creative energy back into writing. I came up with a new concept to do a fashion board of what I am loving for each month. This inspiration actually came from a school project where we had to create a new magazine concept. My lips are sealed on what I designed ;). Who knows, maybe my plan can actually become a reality.

CHIC-
1) One can NEVER go wrong with a blazer! I think everyone should own multiple blazers. With the summer months creeping up, I like to add a pop of color to my blazer to keep it festive. Black can be boring & a color mixes it up.

2) Peplum tops have to be one of my favorite trends. They hide my 'pooch' (or extra stomach) & give any body a nice shape. The leather w/ the knit sides will slim you down as well.
3) I have always noticed that whenever I wear red, guys eyes start to wander! Add the cutouts in the front & back, you'll have the boys drooling. This dress features the lazer etching which has been huge this season as well.
EDGY-
5) I love my motorcycle jackets & can literally pair it with anything. In the summer, black jackets can seem to heavy & the white gives it a fresher feel. Plus, winter whites are a huge trend to transform this jacket from summer to winter.
6) Showing off your toned stomach is the must have for summer 2013 & the crop top is back! I mean if you have a six pack then sure, go show off to everyone. If you are a normal human being (like myself), wearing a high waisted shorts/ skirt makes this trend actually doable.

7) This looks like a plain maxi but turn around and bam, *red carpet moment, bum to the photogs, look at this dress* moment. Open backs are the epidemy of sexiness & this even has a bit of side boob going on. Wear it as a beach coverup or a statement necklace for a night out.

8) I have almost the exact same skirt from Asos & I constantly wear mine. We transferred from the leather looks of winter to the wet leather for the warmer months. This is the trend piece. Pair with a jean shirt or a white t-shirt for a killer outfit.
BOHO-
9) Jean jackets have made a comeback over the last few months. I love this Topshop acid wash jean jacket as it reminds me of the 90's. Pair it with a dress or wear it as outerwear. Either way, you'll get your moneys worth with this piece.

10) Chambray shirts made a huge statement this winter underneath a sweater. However, I still want to keep rocking mine!! Pair it with colored shorts or a leather skirt for an awesome outfit.

11) To say that I am obsessed with maxi's for the summer is an understatement. I am not usually a fan of prints but these multicolor remind me of watercolors & art. This dress is super cool & can be accessorized in so many ways.

12) Recently, I tried on a pair of my brothers distressed jeans & wanted to A) cry with joy that they fit (he's a twig) & B) they looked fab! Guys wear jeans in the right way & they are always perfectly distressed. Now, if only they sold boyfriends with these jeans!

25 Days of Fashion: December 9

On the ninth day of this fashionable month, we were given peplum tops. I first saw Emma Stone rocking a peplum at a movie premiere a few summers ago. This year, they have caught everyone by storm from skirts, tops, and dresses. If you are on the smaller side it can give you an amazing shape. If you are fiercely real, it can highlight your tiny waist but make sure the peplum is on the smaller side. I love my peplum and you can rock it an any color. Pick up your own at Asos for $38.70.  Asos Peplum Top

Peplum skirt!

Hello!
Last July, Emma Stone rocked this colorblock dress with the peplum skirt. At first I was a little baffled by it but I had a change of heart and found it stunning. Here is the picture of what really started my love for the peplum skirt.

This trend can be quite intimidating especially for women. No girl wants to add extra attention to their waist or hip area. This trend can work for every body shape though. For the petite girl you can wear any sort of peplum. Your figure can withstand a larger peplum since it'll give you that nice hour glass shape. For fiercely real women, keep your peplum smaller and not as exaggerated. You don't want to add extra fabric to that area but that doesn't mean you can't rock this trend. This trend is totally dramatic so don't be afraid to go for it!
This dress goes for $74. I absolutely love this dress and may need to get it for myself! It's totally chic and classic. I love this salmon color especially with the warmer weather. The V-neck lets you show off your collarbone and neck. The peplum makes it super stylish and gives it a unique flair. This is a look that you can wear to the office and then go to meet friends with.

This dress goes for $58. What I love about this is it isn't the typical peplum skirt, it goes over the hips and straight down the front and back instead of around the hips. My other favorite feature of this dress is the scoop back since I love showing off a back! Pair it with a wedge for an easy look or dress this up with a pump.

This dress goes for $68. This is another unique form of the peplum skirt since it is tiered which makes it seems very feminine. There is a cutout back which is another "major" feature. This dress comes with the leopard print belt. I love how girly this dress is especially with the chiffon. This color will look great on tan or darker skinned girls.

This Asos dress is on sale for $68.04. What I love about this dress is how office appropriate this dress is yet it's really stylish. This cream color isn't to bright so you won't stand out in the office. Along with that it isn't overly sexy with the cap sleeve but you can still show off your legs. Wear it with a bright colored pump to edge it up or cardigan for colder days.

This Asos dress goes for 85.94. This dress reminds me of the Stella McCartney dress that Kate Winslet wore that was white with the black siding.  That dress was used to give her the perfect shape and this dress has the black siding which will help accentuate your shape. This pink color is perfect for the warmer weather and to give you a pop of color.

This Asos top goes for $35.81. This top is simplistic but the peplum gives it drama. It's the perfect way to try this trend without going overboard. Pair this with tighter bottoms like jeans, shorts, or a skirt. The tighter bottoms with contrast nicely with the flair at the hips. Wear it with skinny jeans and wedges for a summer night or a black skirt and heels for the office.

This Asos top goes for $39.39. What I love about this top is how sporty it feels. You don't have to be a girly girl to wear this. Another key feature is the neon trim against the zipper in the back. This zipper gives it a pop of color and is totally chic. You can dress it up with skinny black pants (pictured) or with shorts.
This Asos skirt goes for $53.72. I love being able to have a skirt so you can mix up the top and make it your own. This skirt comes in four colors of red, black, white, and baby blue. This skirt is perfect for the office or date night. Add a tank top for a date or a tighter blouse for the office. This look is so easy to create a great, stylish outfit.

This Betsey Johnson skirt is on sale for $46.99. You have the peplum trend in your skirt. I like the print of the floral look on it as well. Florals are always a hit and this skirt doesn't go overboard since you have the black background of the skirt. Pair it with a tank top and cardigan to complete the look. Make sure your top is simple so you don't distract from your skirt.

This Betsey Johnson jacket goes for $298. I have rarely seen a jacket with the peplum look so this is an unexpected twist. The leopard print is a fun print as well. I like how this jacket actually looks like a top and you would never want to take it off. This look you definitely need guts to wear this look.

The peplum trend has still been a hit and graced the red carpet from countless celebs. Everyone from Kate Middleton, Blake Lively, and Michelle Willaims have all rocked this trend. You can wear this trend on an evening gown (Michelle) , skirt (Blake), or jacket (Kate). Be confident and work this trend to fit to your body type.
